    MTG Cards Needed
Quick post, I still need the following (after getting stuff from Jerry):

    Hallowed Fountain x3 or x4
Psionic Blast (or is it Psychic Blast?) x3
    Steam Vents x2 or x3
    Browbeat x4

    People to Playtest with x?
    Time to Playtest x?

Possibly Akroma x2, not sure which version (or two of one and two of the other in the sideboard?)

    Thanks all!

    Hooray goodness!
Yesterday I had a meeting with the big boss to get my review. It was a GREAT review.

And I got an "official" promotion. And a big raise.

Really I'm not doing anything new, but AH and PV are both officially my stores now, rather than just "helping out". I'm now technically a "senior manager" being groomed to oversee additional stores. Which is great, 'cause with all the problems at PV right now I'm happy with just the two stores. I also pretty much have carte blanche to run both stores any way I like. Which means that there are some BIG changes in store for PV in the next few weeks...

Hmmm... let's see what else is happening...

Wednesday Ryan and Justin came over and we all played WoW at my house. It took be about an hour to get all the cords worked out so we all had internet, which is OK because the lazy bums slept late and didn't get here until late. It was very fun, and I can't wait to do it again (maybe next Wednesday...)

After much WoW-ness, we went to the magic tournament at AH. I lost pathetically, but still had a good time. Justin sounds like he wants me to come (to the tournament, lol) more often, so maybe I will.

Speaking of which, I'm planning on building a Magic deck that I'll actually spend the time and money to get actual cards for. Ryan and Justin kinda give me a hard time about the kinds of decks I play (fun but not really competitive, almost no rares in them at all). In fact, Ryan once had Justin eat a magic card that I was considering playing, just so I couldn't use it. So, I'm gonna build a good deck in secret and whoop them with it, to prove that I CAN make good decks (I just choose not to spend the time and money to).

Yes, I plan to go to a secret retreat in the Himalayas, where Tibettan magic-playing monks will teach me deck-building mysticism unknown to western society. Then I will pound all the magic players I know into the ground with my newfound magic kung fu. Bwahaha!

The only problem is that Tibettan magic-playing monks are rather stingy with their cards. So I may need to hit my magic-playing friends up for some. I will trade (or more likely pay, I own crappy cards ATM). And best thing is that with my new raise, I can afford it.

Sunday Justin and I are taking my mom to Faire. If its anything like the last 2 times we went, it should be much fun!

    Weird Weekend
I know I owe posts to some of you, and fear not, they will come soon. In the meantime, a "normal" post...

Saturday was shaping up to be a pretty good day, when I got some... disturbing... news from my mom. Apparently my psycho ex-fiance has asked my family for my phone number, again. I'm not really inclined to talk about the most pertinent details of that relationship, to anybody, but... let's just say that he's been trying to get me back for the last 6 years, and I know that even if I don't talk to him over the phone he'll try to come by my work before I open, or send me letters and cards and gifts, or somesuch... I was pretty upset about it by the end of my shift at PV. I'm not at all looking forward to dealing with this, I thought he had finally given up and I have no idea what I'm gonna do about it.

So it was in kind of a daze that I packed my stuff and headed to Ryan's to spend the night with him and Justin before going to Faire Sunday. Justin and I were gonna go to sleep early (about 10 pm), but one thing lead to another... Ryan came in to bed about 11:30, which was really good timing, and Justin and I got up to get something to drink and ended up outside, where I got naked under the moonlight with a strong, cool wind washing over us (no joke! it was great!)... we spent hours just talking and then more time playing before finally falling asleep in the wee hours of the morning.

It was the best night I've had in a long time.

Sunday at Faire was great! We didn't really get to any shows, but we spent a lot of time shopping. Justin loves shiny things, and got so excited at nearly every booth. He really loved the wooden flute booth, and we're gonna go back in a couple of weeks and get him one. We saw Jeannie and Donna, Kyla (no Katie :( ), and even ran into Eric and Kerry. Along with the night before, it was just what I needed to cheer me up from Saturday afternoon.

Tonight Ryan, Justin and I are gonna get on WoW together to run through some quests to get me closer to 30, when apparently there are some really good places for the three of us to group together. It should be lots of fun!

    Why I love my Kyla?
    Interview time
    1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
    2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better ! If I already know you well, expect the questions may be a little more intimate!
    3. You WILL update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
    4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
    5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

And now, questions a-la-Kyla (oh, that has a ring to it!)

    1) Did you know that Sebastian still has your book from LARP and we keep forgetting to get it to you when we know we're going to see you?
No, I didn't. I don't keep track of stuff lent to my most fabulous friends, I know you're good for it. And, I know where you live. I can just take it out of Sebastian's... um... assets.
    2) What is your favorite physical feature about yourself?
I like my hair, though I wish it were redder. I like my eyes, but I wish they weren't a little cocked. I really like my smile. Overall I think I'm just above-average looking, but the important people think I'm hot and that's good enough for me.
    3) You're changing your entire name (first, middle & last)....what is your new name?
A chance to get rid of my evil name? Yay! I really love Logan and Sebastian. I like Sebastian better, but if they're gonna be first and middle names they have to go in that order. Logan Sebastian. I'd go by 'bastian for short (like Never Ending Story). I don't really care about my last name so much, so I can't say I have a preference.
    4) How many Julians does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
Only one, but he has a question. How many times do you need it screwed? Incidentally, he asks that same question about men.
5)**THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION!!**.....Why do you love your Kyla?
This question requires a certain degree of thought, literary skill, poetry and creativity to do justice to its subject. To be continued.

    Not looking forward
to missing Justin these next few days.

Thursday is gaming night with Kendra and Adrian, and Justin and Ryan are going to the magic tournament at Arrowhead. Friday Justin will be hanging out with a friend from out of town. And Saturday I work and then have gaming that night. So it will be Sunday before I see him again.

We realized tonight that this will be the longest we've gone without seeing each other since we started going out in November. We're expecting to miss each other terribly.

Sure, we can live a few days without seeing each other. But why would we want to?

At least we can look forward to showing each other how much we missed one another.

    I feel weird...
... like maybe I'll wear my new kilt to work tomorrow...

    Fun and Rainy Faire
President's day Justin, Ryan and I went to Faire. The Saturday gaming group was supposed to come, but they all flaked out for one reason or another. Very sad, it would have been great to hang out with them. Kendra and Anthony came too, but we headed different directions and never managed to catch up with each other. :(
We saw Krista and Jeannie and Donna, but didn't catch sight of Tim, Kyla or Katie. :( We know where to find Tim next time, but everyone else needs to let me know where to find you so I can come say hi!
Shows were great, the rain was mostly not too bad... except at the end when I had to run to Boss Wench through the rain to grab 3 bags of stuff we had them hold for us. Still, being able to make out with Justin in the rain made up for it. I bought a real kilt (after getting over my delusion that I cold make one myself) and the colors look great on me! So much that Ryan and Justin insisted that I change into it for the rest of the day. Between the two of us Ryan and I managed to dress Justin in garb, and he looked so hot! I could barely keep my hands off him.
Justin had a great time at Faire and really wants to go again, which is great since there's so much we didn't get to see and do. So next weekend or the one after we will definitely be back!

(Side note: somehow I have started a new hobby, unbeknownst to me. I have apparently begun to collect Justin's clothes at my house. I now have several of each major article of clothing at my house, except for pants of which I only have one pair. In fact, I am now wearing one of his shirts that I borrowed for work today. It still smells like him, sigh.)

    Valentines
It all started before it was supposed to start on Valentine's day. Justin was supposed to come over at 5 pm, but we met each other on WOW and grouped together for a few hours before he came over. I died A LOT but it was fun anyway. He came by and we went to dinner at Red Lobster. During the 1 1/2 hour wait we decided to go across the street to Atomic Comics and look around, but on the way back it started to sprinkle. No big deal, we thought. But about halfway to the restaurant it started to pour and we got soaked. It was cold but so much fun, I've always wanted to walk in the rain with my boyfriend. He had a couple extra pairs of pants in his car, so we changed in the restroom of Red Lobster, and I wore his pants all night.

Justin loves to play poker, so Thursday morning we got up (very late, but we had fun anyway) and I took him out to Fort McDowell Casino. I had never been to a casino, and it turns out he had only been to one once. He played some low-stakes poker and lost $60. I'd need to play a lot more poker to give it a try at a casino. Then we played blackjack (which I'm pretty good at). We each played $60 at the low-stakes tables until he ran out of money, but I made about $14 so I ended up doing pretty well. By then it was check-in time, so we spent most of the rest of the evening in the hotel room. Except for dinner, I took him out to a really nice restaurant where the food was great. Funny enough, the highlight was the berries served as a garnish with dessert, they were SO fresh and tasty.

We slept in the next morning, and didn't feel like spending the day indoors. We had lunch at the hotel restaurant (great sandwiches), then just hung out by the pool. Justin had a few drinks, so he was more than a bit tipsy when we decided to head back to our side of town. He laid the seat back to take a nap, which of course meant that I had to feel him up all the way home. When we got home we just talked for a couple hours before we had to get ready for the dinner theater. Believe it or not, there is one just south of Arrowhead mall. We saw "Kiss Me Kate", which was not what either of us expected but very good nonetheless. The food was also phenominal.

The only bad part of the whole trip was having to say goodbye to him tonight. I got so used to sleeping with him next to me these last few days. He seemed to have had a really good time, though, and that's all that matters.

G'night all. I'll post again soon!

    Really sucky day
    Sunday. Was. Crap.

Things sucked Saturday night, as I was worried for a good friend of mine and stayed up extra just in case she needed to talk. Got plenty of sleep though, so it should have made for a good day.

    Ha!

Got to kinkos at 11:30 to pick up my 11 am order that I needed for inventory at noon at PV. The guy behind the counter had no idea what I was talking about and couldn't find out anything about the order. So I'm thinking I'll have to buy a jump drive, drive 30 min back to my house, load the file on, drive 30 min back, and wait while they print up over 600 pages. Then I remembered that I still had the books from Arrowhead's inventory, not as good, but it beat the alternative. So I went to get them and head to PV.

I got to PV about 1 1/2 hours later than I expected. The employees there counted like pregnant yaks (REALLY SLOW for anyone who's never seen a pregnant yak count). Especially when I wasn't there holding their hands. Meaning that we only got about half the precounts done that I wanted to do.

While we're counting, Ryan calls to say he's throwing up and can't come in. And at 4pm kinkos calls to say my order's ready. Bastards.

Inventory doesn't get any better after we're closed, short staffed with a couple REALLY slow counters, one person short and old inventory books. And one of the least experienced counters has to get assigned to puzzles, where there are a ton of new ones since the books were printed and he has to have help to hand-write most of them.

Counters finished around 11 pm. I was there till 1:30 am finishing. Finally the day got the better of me and I called Justin for some consolation.

The sweetheart came over to help me sleep better, then hung out at the house until I got off work so we could spend Monday night together to cheer me up. So Sunday sucked, but at least Monday made up for it.

Thursday and Friday I'm taking Justin on a little "mini-trip". Not leaving town or anything, but staying elsewhere just the two of us. Details later when I have more time. Between Valentine's and his birthday Friday, I thought something special was in order. I'm getting nervous though, I really hope he has a good time.

OK, its very late so off to bed. I'm off work tomorrow so I can sleep in a bit, get chores done before my "vacation", and then see Justin tomorrow afternoon.

    MTG
So last Thursday was the Magic Box Tournament at my store, and I actually decided to play. Justin and Ryan joined me, and Brittany and Kyle came too, plus an assortment of geeky magic players. I had a really great time. In three rounds of swiss I think I won maybe 1 game, but there were no easy wins against me. I made everyone fight tooth and nail for their 2-0 win against me! Ryan placed 4th or something, Justin came in 2nd to Joseph Pinkley (so would have won if Mr. Ringer-boy handn't showed...).

While we were at the tournament...
Justin and I are sitting at the table between rounds making out (like we do when gaming). Stuart, really nice kid and innocent gamer guy, is at the table behind us with a friend. All of a sudden, I hear Stuart say "Julian, WHAT are you DOING?!?" So of course I turned around nonchalantly and said "making out". I then continued.
    It was HILARIOUS!

Saturday started out OK. I brought Justin to meet my mom, who is a bit fixated on this guy from work... kinda annoying, but I understand 'cause I'm probably a bit like that about Justin. Then Justin came by and hung out until we hand to go to Saturday gaming. Gaming was OK, but sadly we had to stop just as it was getting interesting. Which is secretly just as well, 'cause I was just about to embark on a course of action that had most of teh other players going "No!!!" and asking awkward questios that I wasn't sure how my character would answer. So that gives me a week to think about Trey's motivations before the next session. The rest of that night was grrr/kinda blah.

Updates for Sunday and this week come later!

    To my rabid readers...
A friend reminded me today that its been a while since my last post. So this post is dedicated to betatested, who prank calls me at Game Daze when he should be working ;).

Gosh, there is so much going on and hasn't been enough time to update. It seems, though, like everyone is catching up on their LJ posting. Bravo!

Been spending a lot of time with Ryan recently. Read: spending a lot of time with Justin recently. Of course, Ryan is fabulous and worth spending time with just him. So, him first. We finally finished Descent, which is good beacause I REALLY need to play something else. I think we're gonna play some munchkin and then start some kind of role-playing, which should be good. I probably hang out with him every other day or so, on average.

On to Justin. I'm REALLY happy! We still spend time almost every day together. He treats me so well; he's gentle, affectionate, thoughtful, sweet, adorably innocent, very cute and cuddly... I could go on, but you get the picture. I was gonna wait a while longer before saying the "L" word... but I just couldn't help myself and it slipped out. We're so much in love! And we have so much in common, its fascinating. We read the same kinds of books, watch the same movies, listen to the same music, enjoy the same hobbies, have similar families (single mom, 2 younger brothers, etc.)... and we enjoy the same things in bed, with the same frequency. In fact, sometimes I feel kinda bad... we really try to be quiet but can never quite manage it, so usually everyone knows what we're doing and how often we're doing it. We've taken to borrowing Ryan's loft to give Kendra and Jeannie's burning ears a break.

The last couple weeks in a nutshell (however big):

    Lots of Descent.
Missed playing Star Wars the last 2 Saturdays due to family issues, kinda sad.
Had surprise B-day dinner for mom.
Lots of work, managing both Arrowhead and PV. PV is finally shaping up a bit. Makes me happy.
WOW mage is 19. Ryan and Justin ran me through my first instance a few times, got OK XP and good loot.

    More recently...

Wednesday Julian was annoyed. Justin and I planned to spend the morning together, and I wanted to talk to him about something (not bad, but very private and important to me). Then in the afternoon I was gonna hang out with Adrian since I couldn't make it Thursday night like usual.
So I told Adrian "I'm not sure what time I'll be free Wednesday, because I might spend the night at Ryan's."
    Adrian: "With Justin."
Me: "Yeah. I'll call you when I'm free."
Tuesday night Ryan was paranoid about the Magic Tournament Thursday, and made Justin stay up all night with him. So Justin still came over at 9am like we planned, but was exhausted so I let him fall asleep (I was still tired too, so I napped with him).
Adrian got here at probably 10:30 am. He may have knocked but I didn't hear it, so he came right into my room. Saw Justin and I curled up together. Put something down and went into the front room.
About 12:30 Adrian comes back in. Sees us cuddled up again. Gets something and goes back out again.
At 2pm Justin and I finally got up, needed to shower... then came back to my room. Now, as mentioned above, we make a fair amount of noise. Right in the middle, a knock at the door. "We'll be right out..."
Afterward, I peeked out to see what Adrian wanted. He came in and I told him that we wouldn't be long 'cause Justin had to go BACK to Ryan's to help with his Magic deck, but that we still needed a little time before I'd be free. Adrian then makes a complete ASS of himself (and remember, I don't hardly ever use that word). We've been broken up now for how long now... 2 years? I can't say that I care for an ex saying to me, let alone in front of my boyfriend, that he "got kicked aside by the only guy he ever wanted" or somesuch. Breakups happen, get over it. If you can't handle that we're not together anymore, let me know and we can each go find other friends. He also was rather rude to Justin, which I tend to take a bit personally.
And, because of all that, we had no time to talk.

Gonna cut this short 'cause I've got to do laundry and room-cleaning stuff. To be continued!

Quote taken from an article about managing your career.
"Recruit missionaries to spread the gospel of your greatness."

    Got that one covered.

Both for my secular career, and my career as a god.

    Bwahahahaha!
    12:22 pm
Wow, 2 posts in 2 days!
    Yes, more from Julian!

So, the holiday was busy, but not nearly as bad as last year. Probably because we were slower this year. Good thing was that I didn't work open to close very day of the last week before Christmas. And Justin had lunch with me pretty much every day, which was really sweet.

The week after Christmas Ryan had closed Beyond Gaming, so very sad. He had a lock-in Wednesday night, and though I had to work the next morning I did at least stay until like 1 am. It was fun, but mostly I enjoyed hanging out with the Game Daze crew playing Arkham Horror (great board game, but DON'T EVER EXPECT TO WIN!).

New Years was amazing. Went to Ryan's party with Justin right after work. I think that Jerry, Brittany, Sierra, Justin and I were the life of the party! There was an extremely pleasant amount of making out going on, and Ryan's couch was almost defiled by some guys hiding under a Jedi robe (couldn't possibly have been me...). Kissed Chris happy new year, that was weird. Kissed Feddi happy new year, that was wrong. Kissed Justing happy new year (all night), that was MUCH better. Then at 3am we couldn't stand it any longer and went to find a bed (namely mine, since Ryan wasn't sharing his).

The day after Justin and I managed to get out of bed at 5pm or so (after waking up a cople hours before). We went to Ryan's house to play Descent. This is a pattern we repeated every day that week, except that I worked Tuesday and Thursday so trade Justin for work in that equation for those days (what a crappy trade). Descent's a fairly good game, though between you and me its not worth playing EVERY night unless you have a boyfriend to snuggle with while you are playing the Overlord and dropping boulders onto players from above, which then knock them to the bottom of pits filled with spikes. And yes, snuggly boyfriends do go very well with boulder-dropping and spiked pits.

Saturday was Star Wars gaming as usual. Good game. No boyfriend :(

Sunday, back to the day-off pattern of Justin, Descent, Justin.

Monday, went out with mom to birthday dinner. Nice food, good to get caught up on family stuff. Lots of family stuff that I'm not gonna go into right now, but it seems like things are getting better in a lot of the important areas. Saw a friend of my mom's for the second time, and she kinda weirds me out. I'm not sure why. Its kinda similar to the way I get weirded out when an aggressive woman gets a crush on me, but not quite the same... I just can't put my finger on it.

Tuesday, nice quiet dinner with Kendra then helped Jeanie keep an eye on Braiden. He's so cute, but a very nosy little baby. Won't go to sleep because he might miss something important!

Yesterday (Wednesday) had a nice, quiet day off with Justin. Ryan wanted to play Descent again, but I just kinda wanted some time for just the two of us. We were both tired so we spent some time napping (etc.), had a quick dinner (take out, but it was too late for a nice sit-down dinner) and watched Pirates 2 which I had not seen yet. Good movie, but way too many loose ends even with a thrid movie so obviously coming.

This morning I got up early since I was pretty well-rested (for the first time in a LONG time) and played some WOW. Yes, I've finally joined the bandwagon. I got to try it a little bit at Ryan's lock-in, and liked the gameplay so I decided it was worth a try. I'm on maelstrom (sorry to those of you who aren't, but that's Justin's server, as well as several other people I know). Luciron and Myraguin are my two characters so far, levels 9 and 8 respectively.
Tonight Eric, Donna and Joe are coming over to hang out. I also prevailed on Justin to come over for a while, that way he can meet some (more) of my friends. Plus, we get to see each other again.

By the way. Ryan refers to us as the "so annoyingly cute" couple, as well as several other synonyms to those adjectives. You have been warned.

(Also, ask Donna. She was here yesterday some of the time that Justin was. She still hasn't met him because, well... let's just say we were too loud for either of them to have heard the introductions anyway.)

    1:38 pm
    Long time no post... again.
    OK, so Julian's in love.

Or at least, getting there really fast.

For those of you who don't know, I've been dating a guy named Justin since the end of November. Its one of those thinks where we've kinda known each other for years, but only really started to get to know each other well in the last few months.

We both did a lot of hanging out at Beyond Gaming last year (before they closed, so sad), and I thought he might be gay/interested, but no one I could ask knew for sure. Finally about Thanksgiving Ryan had the chance to ask him (I didn't want to ask him myself, 'cause I still didn't know him that well yet). Well, he asked Ryan to put in a good word for him with me (I'm still not sure exactly which word it was, but it was definitely good), and I asked him out.

Funny coincidence, we did the same thing on our first date that Jerry and Brittany did. Jerry thinks its a sign of good things to come for both of us (BTW Jerry is quite giggly and happy nowadays...).

So now, one and a half months later, we see each other nearly every day, and text back and forth constantly when we're apart. He's a lot of good things that I'm sure I'll go into detail about later... suffice it to say that there's a lot about the way that he treats me that I'm having to get used to, all of it wonderful.

He's so many things that I've always wanted, but almost given up on finding.

I think he just got here, so more later!

    12:30 pm
    Finally, a day off!
So, now I finally have a few minutes to update my LJ, and its probably gonna be a long one.

First, just wanted to let you all know that I haven't forgotten about you! I still try to check friends posts once every day or two even if I don't get to posting myself.

So yeah, work's been BUSY! For those of you who don't know, Game Daze has lost 3 managers in the last 2 months or so, and given the lateness of the season its not likely that we'll be able to find replacements for two of them before the holidays (Chandler has a manager, though, yay!). Since my own staff is so amazingly awesome and my store is so well-run and organized, I've been earning brownie points (and extra bonus) helping out at other stores.

This last week I spend most of my time at Superstition Springs. I had almost no time to fix any of the bad merchandising there (the store looks like CRAP), since all my time was spent intervewing, hiring, and training desperately-needed staff. Of the 5 crappy workers Craig hired before he quit, only 2 didn't pull a no-show, and one of those two gave 2-weeks notice. So, yeah, a little understaffed there. Anyone needs a job in Mesa, let me know. I ended up pulling 2 doubles there, one on my other day off this week, thanks to people not showing for their shifts.

PV also lost their manager recently, very sadly. Unfortunately I just don't have the time to get out there in person to help out, but I'll be spending a LOT of phone time helping Chris out.

In the meantime, sales are still comfortably up at my store from the last week, and it looks great. And all of that when I could only be there one day. It is such a huge relief to know that my staff does such a good job without me.

As for non-work things... I'm still making time to get to Beyond Gaming once or twice a week to hang out and play games. I think one of the guys there has a bit of a crush on me (according to Ryan, and it sounds pretty reliable). He's a pretty nice guy, at least worth going out with once or twice to see what happens; I don't really know him all that well. I'm gonna let him do the asking out, though. I've also still been able to get out to Saturday gaming, where we've started playing Star Wars (since I don't game master in November and December). Its been a lot of fun so far. Not sure how long I can keep the social life going this year, but it should at least be better than last year was (I was riding the bus to and from work, so I was a LOT more tired and had no evening time to have a social life).

Anyway, that's it for now. I make no promises, but I'll try to update at least a little more often over the next couple of months.

Oh, PS: Ryan (Beyond Gaming Ryan) is having a New Year's party this year, probably will be lots of fun. Details to follow!

    Happy Holidays...
Just taking a quick minute in my hectic week to observe the vernal equinox with one of my favorite poems.

Let Day be bounded by the Night,
Dark be balanced by the Light.
Earth and Sky and Sun and Sea,
A circled cross shall ever be.

Let sorrow make a space for joy,
    Let grief with jubilance alloy,
Step by step we make our way
Till Darkness shall unite with Day.

Each season by the next is bound,
    Meetings, partings form the round,
The sacred center is our frame
Where all is changing, all the same.

    Moving, we become more still.
Impassioned, we are bound by will.
    Turning in perpetuity
    While Time becomes Eternity.

    Hmmm... job openings?
    Hey out there!

Anyone know someone with retail and/or management experience who might be looking for a full-time, salaried job with holiday bonuses?

Because I may need to hire some store managers soon.

Also, anyone know someone with purchasing and/or accounts payable experience, or someone with a detail-oriented or analytical mind?

Because I may have a part-time to full-time purchasing position available soon (this one may be a seasonal position initially).

Have anyone interested call me at 623-979-5360 in the next few days. It will be helpful if they could also fax me a resume (I'd have to give them the fax number when they call me) or e-mail it to ah_store@gamedaze.com

    Thanks all!

Ah, I fit in with so many of my friends!

    What Renaissance Performer are you?

You are a Wench! Life has blessed you with ample talents and the comfort to flaunt them! True, some women may find your demeanor insulting, but who cares when the men pay so much attention to your Natural Endowment of the Arts? Your problem is less getting men to pay attention to you and more getting rid of those you don't want!

    Frustrations and Creative Excitement
Ugh, another long day at work (no extra help until 3 pm... doh!).

Yep, so Alex has given his 2 week notice. He is just a sales associate, so no HUGE deal, but its still damned inconvenient. Couldn't he have waited until January? So interviews for the next 2 weeks or so and hopefully I'll have several good candidates (especially since this is the pool from which I'll have to draw most of my holiday help).

Up late last night with Kendra; Anthony's being an ass again, and having huge problems with his blood sugar (one stems from the other, but its still no excuse). I have to say that if my family hadn't kept so much crap about him from me, I would have warned Kendra away from him to begin with. But, well, they lied to me, I didn't know, and at least I'm here for her as much as I can be.

On better notes... first, LARP starts Sunday. I'm excited, but also nervous. I hope Kendra and Joe will be all set. We haven't had quite as much time as I would have liked to prepare, but I'm usually over-prepared anyway. I'm also working on a great new story setting. I'm playtesting it with a small group now, and am excited to see where it goes.

Gonna go rest my eyes before I have to open the store. See you all later!

    A closed circle.
For those of you who don't know, I follow (more or less) the druidic faith. I have some differences in my beliefs, and I've never been really drawn to pacticing with anyone else. Practicing my faith has always been kind of a private thing for me. Mostly its been a pretty casual thing; I pray and meditate when I need to (to give thanks, ask for help or guidance, or simply to be closer to the divine) and learn whatever I'm most drawn to in my faith. For the last several years I've had it in the back of my mind to be a bit more structured about it, but something has always gotten in the way. I've just trusted that it wasn't time for me to work that way yet.

At the beginning of the year I decided that this was the year to make that change (despite the fact that I really don't have much in the way of ritual space or anything at the moment). Don't get me wrong, I still intend on practicing privately (unless something changes), but there's a certain power in regular practice. So I've been slowly putting things into place mentally and emotionally for such a change.

The other day (Thursday? Friday? Something like that...) I was bored and on the internet, and found myself on an almanac site, where I could look up solstice days and the moon cycles, and realized that now feels like the time. So, I jotted down some dates, requested the necessary time off work for the rest of the year, and went shopping!

(Yes, fun shopping demands a new paragraph!) I picked up some great scented candles, since incense usually bothers my allergies (no food smells, I figured that it would feel a bit awkward to be in the middle of meditation and get a huge craving for cookies or hazlenut coffee or something). I got some great seasonal decorations at Wal-Mart... as a kid we always made a big deal of changing decorations for each major holiday, and I've wanted to do that again in my own living space for a long time. Picked up a pillar candle and several tapers, and so on. I've already gotten a couple of ritual clothes (these great woven-wool, open-fronted poncho kind of things I got at Faire last season) and accumulated a few tools over the years. I'm so very excited, I can't wait for the equinox!

Couple quick questions, if anyone has any ideas...
    1) For both utility and symbolic reasons, I need a sharpened blade for a tool. I'd like to use my 8" dagger. Not that I'd carry it everywhere or anything, but I'd like to be able to carry it legally in case I need to transport it anywhere. Anyone know what kind of permits I might need to carry a sharp 8" dagger around (not concealed)? If not, anyone know where I could find a good ritual blade that would be legal when sharp?
    2) I'm also short one stone. I'd like to get a crystal of some kind, preferrably spherical (though, I'm open to whatever the universe sends me). There are a couple places in Sedona that I'd usually check, but it would be at least January before I could get up there and I'd like to find something before the equinox. Anyone know a good place in Phoenix to find crystals and such?

Its finally time to bring this cycle to a close... to go back to the beginning and take up again what once I laid aside, to cherish what I've been able to learn in between, and be today a more whole person than I was yesterday. So may it be!
